Christina Grimmie honored by Humane Society, family to release full-length posthumous album

Christina Grimmie’s memory continues to live on.

On Saturday night, Rachel Platten presented a commemorative tribute on behalf of the late singer at the Humane Society’s To The Rescue Gala in Hollywood, California. Grimmie was posthumously honored with the HSUS’ Impact Award, which was accepted by her father Bud, mother Tina, brother Marcus and best friend Sarah Luebkemann.

“Christina’s voice, which she used to raise awareness about many animal issues, was silenced much too soon,” said ” Humane Society President and CEO Wayne Pacelle, who also recognized Grimmie’s immense contributions to the animal protection movement.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know the people and causes Christina was pouring her heart into the last several years,” Luebkemann wrote on Instagram. “And finally got to meet the very sweet @rachelplatten. Christina toured with her last year and she absolutely loved Rachel. Rachel, thank you for being so kind and genuine, and for loving on and encouraging Christina. She admired your resilience and beautiful spirit, and had so much fun with you.”

Just a day before the event, Grimmie’s family dropped Side B. The four-song EP is a follow-up to her 2016 Side A EP. In addition to lead single “Invisible,” the record includes a reproduced version of Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up,” one of her most memorable performances during season 6 of NBC’s The Voice.

Along with the release of the Side B, the family also revealed that those songs will be featured on an upcoming full-length album. Titled All Is Vanity, the record is slated to be released on June 2, National Gun Violence Awareness Day. The YouTube star was fatally shot last June during a meet and greet following a show in Orlando, Florida. She was only 22 years old.

Grimmie’s family will appear on Tuesday’s episode of The Voice with a surprise for fans. Tune in April 25 at 8/7pm CT to hear the special announcement.
