Driver dead after van crashes into bushland in NSW Blue Mountains

A man has died after his vehicle left the road and crashed into bushland in the NSW Blue Mountains over the holiday weekend.

Emergency services were called to Mount York Rd, near Berghofer Dr, at Mount Victoria about 11.30am on Sunday after reports of a crash.

Upon arrival, police discovered a Volkswagen van which had left the roadway before crashing into nearby bushland.

The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was found dead at the scene.

The man has not been formally identified, but is believed to be aged in his 50s.

The cause of the crash has not been determined with a report to be prepared for the coroner.

Seven News reports the incident is believed to have occurred overnight on Saturday.

The fatal crash is the second in NSW over the holiday weekend.

A mother-of-three died in the state’s central west on Saturday after colliding with a ute.
