Jeff Mundy: Myponga Reservoir closed as police search for body
A popular tourist destination has been closed off as police search for the body of a suspected murder victim.
On Monday, SA Police revealed they had received unconfirmed reports suggesting the remains of a man missing for more than two years could be in the Myponga Reservoir.
Jeff Mundy, 36, was last seen in the Seaford and Sellicks Beach areas on December 19, 2020.
According to police, at the time of his disappearance Mr Mundy was being actively sought by members of the southern suburbs drug community.
Last year, police revealed Mr Mundy had been held captive in a container frequented by drug dealers in Lonsdale before allegedly being murdered – one of three deaths being investigated by Taskforce Southern.
On Tuesday, the search entered its second day, with divers searching near the wall of the Reservoir.
Police at the scene told NCA NewsWire they were yet to find anything but were continuing to monitor the area as the water is searched.

Major Crime Investigation Branch’s Detective Superintendent Des Bray said police had received tips his body was disposed of by the wall of the dam.
Divers are focusing on the area closest to the wall, but the depth and quality of the water are making it difficult to search.
“If he’s there, we will find him,” Superintendent Bray said.
“I’m pleased to report that we have had good co-operation from people in the criminal community, whose information has led us to search this location today.
“Even if we are unsuccessful in locating Jeff’s remains, we may locate weapons or other potential evidence to assist in the investigation or at the very least can exclude this location and consider other areas that have been suggested.”
The Taskforce was formed in 2021 to investigate a string of violent crimes, including the death of Mr Mundy, along with two other alleged murder victims – Trevor King and Robert Atkins.
The body of Trevor King, who police allege was held, tortured and subjected to extreme violence, was found in 2020, and four people have been arrested in relation to the matter.
Superintendent Bray said the Myponga Reservoir search could take up to five days to complete, with seven divers working in extreme conditions to cover all necessary areas.
“We anticipate the area will be quite difficult to search, with depths of up to 30 metres near the wall of the weir,” he said.
“Our experienced divers will be meticulous and will ensure every part of the area of interest is searched in its entirety.”
SA Police detectives are appealing to anyone with information on the location of Mr Mundy or knowledge of any of the alleged murders being investigated by Taskforce Southern to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
During the investigation, police have arrested 65 people, with 95 charges ranging from unlawful detention, money laundering, blackmail, assault, drugs and theft.
Police also revealed 40 firearms had been recovered with further arrests expected to come.
A $200,000 reward is available for information leading to the conviction of people who killed Trevor King.
