Maurice Chevelle Howard Metropolitan Funeral

Maurice Chevelle Howard, 57, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away in Thursday, October 28th, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Maurice was born on February, 23rd, 1964 in Rochester, New York to Leavy Ann and Eddie Howard. After graduating from Monroe High School in 1982, he went on to join the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant. During his service the United States, he received three good conduct medals, Navy unit commendation and a host of other awards and honors. Maurice was honorably discharged on June 29th 1993. Following his service, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Engineering.

On December 16th, 1985, Maurice married his high school sweetheart, Mekdara Keomuongchanh. They later gave birth to their pride and joy, Porsche Monique Howard, on June 27th, 1988.

Maurice was a force of nature, determined to provide for his daughter and give her the best life he felt she deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Porsche and always tried his best to support her.

Anyone who knew Maurice knew he was intelligent and strong willed. He was predeceased by his mother Leavy Ann Howard. He is survived by his daughter Porsche Howard, father Eddie Howard, former spouse Mekdara Keomuongchanh, sister Avie Howard, brother Victor Howard (Ellen) and three nieces and nephews.

United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant Maurice Howard (retired). A man who served his family, his country and his corps with honor discipline, decency and fortitude.
